If past matchups are any indication, Saturday’s final meeting of the 2015 regular season between Indy Eleven and the New York Cosmos will be a tight one. In five games with the Cosmos in Indy Eleven’s short history, the two sides have each scored five goals each and have been fit to be tied at the end of each and every meeting (0W-5D-0L).

August 30, 2014 vs. NYC 2-2 D
May 24, 2014 @ NYC 1-1 D
GETTING OFFENSIVE ... AND STAYING THAT WAY
Despite last weekend’s loss at Ottawa, Indy Eleven continued to put goals on the board. Across its last six games, Indy has scored 12 times, this after the “Boys in Blue” tallied just 6 goals in their opening 7 games of the 2015 season. The 2-4 defeat last Sunday at Ottawa marked the 5th time in those six games in which Indy has scored multiple goals, a feat it accomplished just once across its first 7 matches (4/18 @ SAS, 2-1 W).
SHARING THE SCORING LOAD
Indy’s recent scoring barrage has been coming from multiple sources, with nine different “Boys in Blue” hitting the back of the net during the team’s last six games. Don Smart and Judson McKinney joined the “hit parade” last Sunday, with Smart’s first tally since the season opener on April 4 at Atlanta allowing him to join Dylan Mares, Wojciech Wojcik, Victor Pineda, Brian Brown, Erick Norales & Sergio Pena in the logjam for the team’s scoring lead with two goals apiece. McKinney became the 10th different player to hit the back of the net, the group combining for 17 goals in 2015 (not counting an own goal vs. Carolina on 4/25).
HOME COOKIN’ TASTING BETTER
Indy Eleven’s struggles at home in its short history have been well documented, and last season’s alarming trend of dropping points at “The Mike” had reared its head at the start of 2015, the squad going winless at home (0W-3D-2L) in all competitions to start the season. However, the “Boys in Blue” righted the ship in a big way with a 3-0 win on June 13 vs. FC Edmonton, easily the most dominating performance in club history regardless of the venue. That turnaround continued its last time out at home on July 11 with a 2-1 come from behind victory over Carolina – who came into “The Mike” in April and snatched two points near the death by scoring late to force a 1-1 draw. Indy Eleven is actually above .500 (4W-6D-3L) at Carroll Stadium with a +3 goal differential (17 GF/14 GA) over its last 13 regular season home games (4W-8D-8L all-time at home).
WHO TO WATCH, INDY ELEVEN EDITION – M/F DANE RICHARDS
The newest member of the "Boys in Blue," midfielder/forward Dane Richards, get his feet wet in NASL play last weekend ... actually, it was more like wading waist deep, as he got a 68-minute run out as a member of the midfield in his Indy debut. Richards did some good things pushing the attack from a more central spot in the team's midfield last week, but with Indy's options more plentiful in the middle of the field this week - Dragan Stojkov appears to be back to full health and Brad Ring and Daniel Keller have also both improved to "questionable" status on the injury report - it will be interesting to see where interim head coach Tim Regan decides Richards' abilities will be of most use - out wide, in the middle, or up top. A good problem to have, indeed.
WHO TO WATCH, COSMOS EDITION – MF WALTER RESTREPO
When these two teams met three weekends ago, the Cosmos were resting several impact players after a grueling midweek U.S. Open Cup match against the New York Red Bulls - and the Colombian attacker Restrepo was one of them. But after entering the game near the hour mark the field started to tilt the Cosmos' way, and it was Restrepo himself that would even the match in the 78th minute with a somewhat lucky but still hard-earned finish. If the Indy Eleven faithful need another reason to put Restrepo on their "naughty list" on "Christmas in July" Night Saturday, they can harken back to last May, as it was his goal in the 89th minute that pushed San Antonio to a 2-1 win at "The Mike" in what is remembered by most as "The Billy Forbes Game."
